I’ve decided I really need to write down my favorite passages from Lapham’s Quarterly; this one comes from the winter 2009 volume – EROS. Letters To My Descendants. I thought it would be a neat idea to write directly to my descendants. I’d love it if my ancestors had written something to me. A direct message that transcends time and death. You may not yet be alive but I’m thinking of you and wanted to say hello.
The Lonely Elderly
I’ve been thinking recently how lonely it must be for the elderly. I’m not speaking about how often family comes to visit or how much time they spend in a rest home. LTMD #2 – Contemplating the Future
So why would I want to do this? Well, I guess the answer to that is I have a very intense and deep understanding of how fast life goes, that I could die tomorrow, and that the experience of being alive is simply incredible and I want to leave a permanent record.
