Interesting cloud cover over ocean today – due to Hurricane Odile.
It is a wonderful experience to be on top of this mountain with the wind blowing quickly around and scenery that is unparalleled. A vast ocean lies just before you while the San Francisco peninsula is behind. On a clear day you can see all the major landmarks such as the Golden Gate, Mt. Tamalpais, Half Moon Bay, Oakland and more!
Standing on top of this mountain one feels as though they have conquered nature even if only slightly. I have the same feeling when I’m sliding down a mountain while snowboarding or sitting on my surfboard in the ocean. Perhaps conquered is not the right word as there is also a feeling of oneness. Maybe in our oneness, nature is allowing itself to be tamed as a powerful animal allows its trainer to interact with it. I am aware that she could quickly turn creating a rather dangerous situation for me to be in with no quick escape as it takes at least 20 minutes to get down in good conditions going full speed on a mountain bike. The ocean is even more dangerous as the tides and powerful waves drown many people a year all along this beautiful and treacherous coast.
In this moment however, we are in concert and are one. I am a part of nature and her splendor permeates me.
